How I became involved with PV:
Founder of PARENTVOICE, which started as a support group for parents and families and developed into a full-time contracted support system with trainings, outreach, advocacy, mentoring, and policy decision-making for families, youth, and professionals.
Primary duties at PV:
Director and supervisor overseeing all staff and duties, directs family involvement and participation in program planning, implementation, governance and evaluation through the development of ParentVOICE; serves as a key point of contact between ECAC and Meck CARES SOC Initiative, Mecklenburg Area Mental Health Authority and other county and state stakeholders.

Sibling and Youth Coordinator
Wallace Baker is a husband and a father of two teenage youths. He works as a Youth Coordinator for a group of youth ages 13 - 21 facing mental health challenges. Wallace's personal goals are to provide the youth with support, guidance, and leadership skills so that they can become a strong advocate for themselves and others that follow behind them.
Remember, "A child's voice is a terrible thing to waste".

How I became involved with PV:
Pearlie became involved with ParentVOICE through volunteering. She is a grandparent raising grandhcildren, two of which have mental health diagnoses. After having problems with her grandson's prover, she was invited by Sheila to attend classes on choosing a provider.
Primary duties at PV:
Outreach presentations in the community and to providers. Primary planning with other staff members in major ParentVOICE family events. Librarian for PV's lending library.
Certifications and/or other education:
Pearlie has an extensive background in working with families, first as a patient educator. She worked with FAST, a national organization that helps families spend quality time together, as a FASTWORKS Coordinator and a certified FAST trainer from 2001-2005. She also served as a Boy Scout leader at her church for 13 years.
Major local and/or national presentations:
- Completed the MECARES CFT series - 2008.
- Certificate in North Carolina Family Support to Family Training - November 2007.
- Certificate in Event Management Training - November 2007 - Duke University extension course.
- 2004- With ten others from across the United States, assisted with writing the first FASTWORKS Manual.
- Credentialed in the North Carolina Family Support - Duke University, June 2007.
- 2003 - Presentation on FASTWORKS in in Charlotte, NC, at the Family Support America in Chicago, IL.
Office Manager and Volunteer Program Coordinator

How I became involved in PV:
Barbara became involved with ParentVOICE during a time when she was looking for assistance, resources and training on how she could be a better advocate for her child.
Primary duties at PV:
Barbara's primary job function is to oversee office systems to ensure that PV can connect families to valuable resources, educational materials, trainings and supports to meet the needs of families. As the Coordinator of our volunteer program, she is responsible for developing systems and trainings for the volunteers.
